I remember when an elderly brother in the hall I attended finally passed away, after battling illness for the last few years of his life. It was announced at the Thursday night meeting, and the brother making the announcement made a point of telling the congregation that even on his death bed, he managed to get 5 hours of field service in for the month. Apparently it was to shame the rest of us into doing more.

Handing in '' Field Service Report '' even if you're very ill.
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy mom has not been to any meetings or participated in field service since august 2013. she cannot walk due to all her medical conditions.
she is either in bed or sitting in a wheel chair.. our family hired a caretaker monday - friday to help her eat, take her to the bathroom and sit with her in case she needs anything.
in the evenings and weekends, we have family members take care of her.

JW refuses to provide wedding stationery to Gay couple
by KateWild ini was outraged at this and had to post it.. http://jehovahswitnessreport.com/blog/jw-refuses-to-provide-wedding-stationery-to-gay-couple.
i think she is a hypocrite and i bet she sells her invites to fornicators, or does she ask them if they are having sex before marrige, before she takes their money?.
i was never like this when i was a jw, it's even more disturbing that she is going to ask her elders what to do.

As I read the OP comment I thought that perhaps in the very same line of reasoning that they would support it being forced upon Negroes to provide services advertising or inviting White Supremicists to a Ku Klux Klan rally. Or perhaps in the exact same line of reasoning a Jewish printery must be forced to make available invitations to a Nazi skin head rally.
Apples and oranges. Political ideology is a choice. Sexual orientation and race isn't. Perhaps you should stop thinking of homosexuality as an 'agenda'.

They've gotten a bad rap. Most of the ones I've come across have been quite docile, even friendly.

OMG the Watchtower IS toast!
by kneehighmiah inthe waters are drying up!
a congregation of 110+ publishers will be contributing only $200 a month to the society in the new kingdom hall construction arrangement.
that's less than $2 a publisher!

Is it just me, or does there seem to be more JWNers becoming convinced of the WTS' impending decline than otherwise
I tend to agree, though if there is one thing that could lead to their decline, it's the cash flow drying up. Too bad it's nowhere near that point.

the banking industry is treats the porn industry as high risk, and as such, regularly denies service
why is it OK for the banking industry to refuse service to porn stars
Uh, because they're 'high risk'. Why did you ask if you already knew the answer?
Let me put it another way. That same bank could deny credit to a homosexual who has a bad credit history. But they couldn't deny them simply because they are homosexual. Do you understand the difference?

What's more to blame- the WT or the bible?
by keyser soze inaren't they both just differen't variations of the same lie?
the only difference is the scale on which their impact on humanity is measured.
that, and the fact that the bible can exist without the wt, but not vice versa.. but at the end of the day, what's the difference between claiming to be the inspired word of god, or the one true religion?

Those people would exist regardless..
Maybe, but it is only by claiming divine inspiration that they are able to wield power over others, just as the bible wields power by making the same claim.

Aren't they both just differen't variations of the same lie? The only difference is the scale on which their impact on humanity is measured. That, and the fact that the bible can exist without the WT, but not vice versa.
But at the end of the day, what's the difference between claiming to be the inspired word of God, or the one true religion? They both involve presumptuous men invoking the name of an invisible being to, a)Command subservience from other humans, and b)Justify their own abhorrent beliefs and actions.
I'm not trying to exonerate the WT, by any means. They have blood on their hands, as does any group or person that controls others, and then washes its hands of the consequences by claiming divine guidance. But without the bible, such people wouldn't exist to begin with.

except Evolution as the fact that it is. And stop embarising us with dumb publications on why its still just a theory.
Publications? You mean like the book of Genesis?

I was "totally" stopped in my tracks by an "atheist" comment.
by booker-t ini must admit i can at times be a little "egotistical" when it comes to knowledge and the bible.
i have studied the bible for so long and have always had a passion for the bible as a jw and as an ex-jw.
i guess that is all i have left when it comes to religion and as humans we do tend to stroke our egos.

The flood story was the very first (though certainly not the last) thing that made me question the validity of the bible. It was just such a ridiculously farfetched way for God to get rid of bad people, and was clearly conceived by someone who didn't have even the most elementary understanding of the laws of science or nature.
